Regal Bulk Arrowroot Powder is used as a thickening agent for sauces, fruit pie fillings and glazes, and puddings. Arrowroot mixtures thicken at a lower temperature than mixtures made with flour or cornstarch. Arrowroot powder is extracted from the root of a West Indian plant, Marantha arundinaccea. Flavorless, it also has the same color and texture as cornstarch.

Mix Arrowroot with cool liquids before adding hot liquids, then cook until mixture thickens. Remove immediately to prevent mixture from thinning. Two teaspoons of Arrowroot can be substituted for 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. One teaspoon of Arrowroot can be substituted for 1 tablespoon of flour. Arrowroot makes clear, shimmering fruit gels and prevents ice crystals from being formed in ice cream.

    I only somewhat recently found out about using Arrowroot as a thickener but now it is my thickener of choice. Corn starch adds a certain consistency and very subtle flavor to dishes whereas Arrowroot does not. If you know how to use it, this is an excellent tool!

    I absolutely, first of all, love the price on this product! Arrowroot is usually so expensive. It is so great for thickening, as opposed to cornstarch, no flavor detection.

    Regal Bulk always does it right with their bulk products! Arrow root is a great thickening agent, it is a great substitute for corn starch.

    From what I have used, this is a nice and high quality product. The 5 pound container is great for storage and it is a great price as well. Better than cornstarch for thickening, this won't separate.

    This is an amazing price for this amount of arrowroot!! It thickens so much better than cornstarch and leaves you with a translucent sauce that won't thin out after an hour in the steam table.

    I recently gave into the requests of my customers and began using this product as a thickener as opposed to corn starch and have nothing but good things to say. The product is healthier and in my experience, this allows for the taste of the ingredients to come through truer than with corn starch.

    I have recently gone gluten free and also have to avoid corn products (like corn starch) and potato products. When recipes call for starches, they usually require corn starch saying that you can replace it with tapioca starch..that works. But then they ask for a second starch, like potato and the recipes just didn't work well with using the tapioca for both. Arrowroot powder is sold in small 1-4 oz amounts in most places for an outrageous price. I was thrilled to find this in a 5 lb container at a reasonable price. It has made a remarkable difference in my gluten free baking and cooking. It's a perfect thickener if you are trying to get away from corn starch. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I have been telling all of my gluten free baking friends about this!

    I HAVE RECOMMENDED ARROWROOT TO SEVERAL OF MY FRIENDS WHO HAVE USED CORN STARCH AS A THICKENER. ARROWROOT LEAVES MY DISHES LOOKING ELEGANT BECAUSE OF THE NATURE OF STAYING CLEAR AT LOWER TEMPERATURES. PEPPER STEAK IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES AS WELL AS FISH DISHES SERVED WITH RICE (OR PASTA) THICKENED WITH CHICKEN BROTH AND ARROWROOT. COOKING LOOKS MORE GORMET AND TASTES GOOD.
