Is this lid airtight?

Although this lid sits securely on the container, it does not snap or lock into place. It will keep the contents protected from outside elements, but will come off if knocked over or turned upside down.

What makes the polypropylene plastic material unique?

Polypropylene has a translucent color with some visibility and has average stain resistance and durability/rigidity. It has a temperature range of -40 to 160 degrees and is not recommended for use in the freezer or microwave for long periods of time. However, it is safe for cleaning in the dishwasher. Additionally, it is BPA-free and meets NSF standards. Polypropylene ranks at a mid-level price point. These specifications are based on standard use of products, extreme conditions could alter product quality over time. Though temperature range is representative of microwave and freezer use, it is not recommended for certain materials and may cause products to deform or break.
