This trimmer's powerful brushless motor delivers all the power of a gas-powered unit with zero emissions, quieter operating volume, and reduced maintenance. It also features 1 string trimmer attachment and a lever-style lock system for quick tool-less attachment installation. This item is compatible with Makita couple shaft attachments (sold separately). Take care of large or small jobs with a 17" cutting swath along with 3-speed options, including low at 4,200 RPM, medium at 6,000 RPM, and high at 7,100 RPM for a range of cutting power. This arborist's trimming tool is compatible with Makita 18V LXT lithium-ion batteries and chargers.

This trimmer features XPT (Extreme Protection Technology), which protects the unit from excess dirt, debris, water, or mud during intense jobs. It's also equipped with Star Protection computer controls to protect against overloading, over-discharging, and overheating and a reverse (clockwise) rotation system that keeps the brush cutter head free of grass and weeds. This trimmer is only for use with Makita batteries and chargers.

This trimmer weighs 12.5 lb. with the batteries in place for reduced operator fatigue and includes (2) 18V LXT lithium-ion 5.0 Ah batteries and 1 dual-port charger. The batteries feature LED indicators that show their charge levels clearly as well as impact-resistant outer cases and shock-absorbing inner liners that are engineered to protect the batteries and ensure they remain securely attached to the tool. The charger allows the batteries to reach a full charge in just 45 minutes.
