Customer questions about this product
- How do I reset the coffee urn when it will not turn on?
- Your urn is most likely not turning on as a result of its automatic shut-off feature after a boil dry accident. If your urn has boiled dry, it will not operate until it is reset, but the pilot light will remain on.
To reset the urn, unplug it and allow it to cool. Remove the plastic bottom and find and press the reset button in the control section. Replace the plastic bottom, plug the appliance in, and switch it back on.
If the pilot light turns back on, the unit has recovered to normal working condition. If it does not turn back on, unplug the appliance and repeat the process.
In the event of repeat boil dry incidents, the metal layering, thermal limiter, and heating element of the urn may be damaged beyond repair. For this reason, it is important to read the supplied manual and follow all instructions for avoiding boil dry accidents.
- There are 16 cups in a gallon. Why do coffee urns with similar gallon capacities have different cup amounts listed?
- Coffee urn manufacturers use different size cups to measure the output of each urn, commonly 3.5 oz., 5 oz., or 8 oz. To figure out how many cups you’ll get using your existing dinnerware, simply convert the urn’s gallons to ounces and divide by the ounce size of your coffee cups or mugs!
- When I add coffee to my urn's brew basket, some of the grounds fall through the basket and end up settling on the bottom of the urn. How do I prevent this?
- Wetting your brew basket before placing coffee grounds into it will cause the first grounds that touch it to expand. Because they expand, they stop up the brew basket and prevent the grounds from falling through the basket and into the water.

We love this coffee maker. It has low wattage so we can plug multiple pots in without tripping the breaker and it keeps the coffee hot without overcooking it. We have ordered and use three of these and will never order the more expensive makers again. We had one unit arrived damaged in shipping. I admit that I was really angry that it arrived damaged. However, the on-line customer service rep took my complaint, I emailed a picture of the damaged unit and Webstaurant sent us a replacement unit immediately, no other questions asked. Now that is great customer service. They really turned my anger into an even more satisfied customer.

Well - I am the owner of a NON-Profit Wrestling Club (Team Vision Wrestling), and every year we offer free coffee to the parents and coaches at our Home Dual Tournament. This year was a big deal because we hosted the Youth State Duals District Qualifier in Ohio. If anyone reading this is a fellow coach - you know the first thing us coaches do is go straight to the hospitality room and find the coffee!!! This was a huge help for our event, but I'm also getting a second use out of it. I also run our coffee club at work which has bumped up to ~15 people. We were currently going through ~2 gallons of coffee a day which made this item a perfect fit. Now all I do is make it once in the morning and we are good all day long. I see some reviews about a long brew time - I don't think it's that long at all. 30 minutes for a drinkable cup of coffee, 60 minutes for the perfect cup, then the item keeps the coffee fresh from 7am 'till 3pm when I leave work. It's easy clean up and it comes assembled. And by far the most impressive part, the spout does not dribble after it's released. The most annoying part of any urn or jug is dribbling spouts. It's extremely portable and I'm a paycheck away from getting one for my own personal use. Team Vision Wrestling and I both appreciated this item. Not to mention the next day service. I ordered it standard shipping on a Friday, it was on my doorstep Saturday afternoon. My previous purchase through this website was just as fast too, great experience overall thus far.

just received 55 cup coffee pot in the past from other companies this is so self explanatory love the fact but I do not need to buy coffee filters and the fact that I can make hot water for hot chocolate and not ruin the unit like some units you have to have the circulating stamina and you know things like that I highly recommend this to anybody who has a catering business store where they're going to serve coffee or hot water I probably will buy another one in the future

We received our coffee urns today and it was just what we expected. We are very satisfied with the urn and the stainless finishes are great.

Words cannot express the way I feel about this product, love it , put my catering business on another level. I will have to learn how to use it but nothing is as good as having this product.
Bolaji T. Posted on 09/30/2014
Received this product quickly, at and first inspection seems like a quality product. I read the owner's manual, and everything regarding usage seems easy-from initial break-in to ongoing maintenance. I ran a batch with no coffee, as instructed, and the machine had no issues (no leaks, no smell, and looks great! One concern, read about the brewing time for a full batch-OUCH! Be prepared to arrive at your location early if you are doing catering or an event. I plan on setting my urn up an hour before my first catering-just to be on the safe side.

This is a relatively recent purchase, but so far, has proven to be an excellent coffee maker. Quality is good, brewing time is very reasonable and the price is better than I have found for others of equal capacity.

Purchased 2 of these Avantco 55 cup coffee urns and they are very easy to clean, very quiet while brewing and so far have produced coffee that has been well received by our guests. Simple sleek design.

This is a super great value, can't go wrong with this purchase. I love the double walled feature. The only thing though, is that it takes a bit longer than the previous one we were using. So allow extra time for brewing.
Tahera M. Posted on 04/30/2014
Great value for the price. Clean, professinal look can be used in a store or at a catering. Easy to use wish I had bought a bigger size.

Economic coffee urn but works like a expensive coffee urn. Very high quality product, with a durable plastic faucet. Perfect for cafeterias, hospitals and all commercials kitchen.
Jesus C. from Colon Restaurant Supplies Posted on 12/08/2013
It takes to long to make coffee. for a full pot it takes about an hour to make. That's to long. Unhappy about the time
Kathy B. from POPS KAT LIQUOR STORE Posted on 11/14/2013
Thank you for your review! 1 hour is a standard amount of time for a 55 cup coffee urn. For a faster brew, try the Waring WCU550 55 cup coffee urn which can brew 55 cups in under 30 minutes. Also check out our Hot Beverage Equipment Buying Guide to find the coffee maker that's right for you!

Great for the price! It is easy to operate and great for my catering business, light weight and travels easily. Looks professional too. I would recommend this to anyone catering or serving a large group.
Crystal G. from Chef Diva Co Posted on 10/15/2013
The concession stand that I run for a non profit group owns one of these and it works great. I personally bought a second one for them, to just keep water hot for hot chocolate and tea, etc.
Darrell S. Posted on 05/07/2013
Our church has been using this urn for about six months and we love it. It looks great (sleek and shiny). Also, we can store it in a lower cabinet all set up, all together, unlike the larger urns which don't fit in a standard cupboard with the cover on. Note that for those once-in-a-blue-moon times when you want to set up ahead of time, because the brew baskets sits low, you will get slightly less than the max 55 cups--about 45--otherwise the basket will touch the water. This is a great product for this price, especially if you need a good amount of coffee but don't want to break out the 100-cup urn. Highly recommended.

This pot works great, so far I have not had any problem with the Avantco Coffee urn. The consumers have no complaints that I am aware of.
Mary M. from keypoint health services inc Posted on 01/03/2013
Didn't have a coffee pot because we didn't think we needed one. We got this for a special catering event and it more than paid for itself in one day. Perking takes a little longer than we'd like, but overall a great value.
