Nice to have a dedicated tool to test the "doneness" of cakes. Used to use skewers.. No more wasting wood skewers now! The only issue is that I wish it had a cover or case to go in with a pocket clip. This thing is almost needle thickness and could be a puncture hazard if just thrown in a pocket.

For the price of this, this is the perfect little cake tester. I have been looking to buy some metal stakes for checking my cakes, but this was the perfect item and now i don't need to buy skewers

Just the right length and thickness to test any cake. Sturdy and durable, cleans up easily. I also use to poke holes in pie crust to prevent it from bubbling up.

This Ateco Cake Tester is great for not only testing all of my cakes, but I use it for cupcakes too! I have a few of these!

I've wasted too many wooden skewers before buying this product. It fits conveniently into your sleeve pocket and the handy blue end makes it easy to find again.

This tool (cake tester) was very inexpensive and works great, better than a toothpick and love the fact that is longer and easy to clean.

Super inexpensive and gets the job done. These are so much more efficient than simply sticking a knife in the middle or something similar to check if your goods are done. Worth having a few around.

I felt kind of silly purchasing this since a toothpick or skewer can be used to check a cake for doneness. But I have gotten splinters from running my finger along toothpicks and skewers when I wipe crumbs or batter off to retest. This implement will never give you a splinter, it's long enough to test a deep cake, and I prefer reusing this over throwing out toothpicks and skewers which always seem to tear the plastic liners I use in my trash bins. Garbage is nasty enough to deal with without a leak; with one it's a nightmare.

Another item we ordered less than a week before Christmas and it arrived in time to test the Christmas Eve banana bread, How is that for fast service? A neat little tool which saves you from leaving fork holes in the top of your bread when you test it.

This inexpensive little cake tester is an essential tool I'm my bakery for testing my cupcakes and cakes. Occasionally the metal tester pops out of the plastic grip and it takes a moment to stick back together, but for the price it gets the job done.

I love this little tool! I don't use it to test for done was as I use the spring back method, but it's the perfect tool for dislodging any bits that get stuck in piping tips, spreading & removing bubbles from royal icing, and anything else that requires a tiny needle type tool.

This is a little metal cake tester. It works great! We've also found many other uses for it, like poking open sealed bottles of hot sauce!

Great Price. I use the cake taster to clean out my pressure canner holes, by making sure it is not clogged up so the pressure can get through. The hole is very tiny and this wire works perfectly. Will probably purchase a few more to use with my baked goods.

This cake tester in awesome when it comes to checking for cake doneness. It is thin and tall enough for the taller baking pans. It's an added bonus that it leaves very small holes when checking a cake compared to toothpicks. So glad I purchased two!

I decided to get one of these because I had lost my other cake tester. This little thing has become a favorite. I attach it to the side of my vent hood with a magnet and it is always right where I need it. I like the plastic top. My other was all metal and occasionally was left too close to hot things and got hot itself resulting in slight burns. The plastic handle hasn't managed to burn me yet. ;)

Does the job, we use it to test when cakes or cupcakes are done. I do wish the handle was thicker though so it wouldn't fall through our drying racks or get lost in our utensil holders. Maybe even a hole in it would be good for hanging.

We use these little guys all the time for cake testing and many other uses. The price can not be beat anywhere on the web.

This cake tester is much better than a toothpick. It's considerably longer, making it great for deeper cakes, and the extra length makes a lot more maneuverable as well. I also appreciate its skinniness; it leaves a barely noticeable hole in the cake compared to a toothpick.
