Customer questions about this product

What is the difference between a disher and an ice cream scoop?
Dishers are designed to control servings of soft foods, such as mashed potatoes, applesauce, or steamed vegetables. Although these are not meant for harder foods, such as ice cream, they are versatile tools that can be used for portion control in both prep and service applications. Ice cream scoops offer the durability necessary to scoop hard, frozen foods, such as ice cream. Both are traditionally sized by the number of scoops per quart that they can produce; however, they may also be sized by the number of ounces they hold. Dishers feature an easy-to-operate thumb press or squeeze-handle design, complete with a quick-release component that ensures no food is unintentionally left behind in the scoop. Ice cream scoops on the other hand, do not feature any movable components.

Details

Constructed entirely of 18-8 stainless steel, this #12 round disher has a squeeze handle design that allows you to use your whole hand instead of just your thumb to activate the blade. This cuts down on fatigue with extended periods of use. The blade extends beyond the bowl to prevent sticking and it is for use with either left or right hand. Best for softer foods and low volume use.

I love these dishers they are affordable and work great. They do what they are supposed to just don't use them in hard products like ice cream because they can't handle that.

Scooping jumbo muffin batter is really easy with this. I like all-stainless-steel body and the grip. It can also be used to drop thick cake batter to make zebra patterns.

I love this scoop. It is nice and sturdy and great for portion control. One thing we like to use it for is mashed potatoes. Scoop out a portion, flip the scoop over and make a small indent in the top. Perfect for the gravy and looks nice on the plate. I often hear what a great idea it is.

I wanted to love this so bad! But sadly after the 3rd use it broke. :( I did end up buying a different one from here and so far so good!

Rainey day what else is there to do but bake. I used my new scoop to make large chocolate chip cookies. This scoop worked fantastic. A little spray in the scoop and it was good to go with releasing the batter. This scoop made making cookies easier and less messy. Love my new scoop and the family loved to cookies.

These broke after a couple days. Contacted customer service and never received a response. I would expect these to last a little longer by how they are made.

I use this at home, I am not a professional. I bought this disher to use in filling cupcake pans. However it has found many other uses around my home, including as an ice cream scoop and a serving spoon for mashed potatoes and even stuffing at Thanksgiving. People have made comments that it looks like the cafeteria lady's scoop, which it does, but that's fine with me.

Excellent quality item along with a great price. Versatile uses. Great for batters and filling molds but also for portioning out food. I use this for my waffle maker as well as making pancakes.

I needed a large scoop to be my all-around disher in the kitchen. This fits the bill. At just over 3 ounces, its pretty much the perfect size for portioning out many different side dishes. For the money, this is a great buy!

We have 2 of the small scoops similar to this one. But one of our recipes required double the amount of dough that our larger scoop could handle... So with this new scoop it takes half th time. We love it!

I purchased this to scoop cupcake batter and it works perfectly. The spring action works smoothly and the scoop is sturdy and easy to clean.
