Fried Coke

Learn how to make this taste sensation! Fried cola has been a carnival favorite for years, and if you're one of those people who has wondered how it's done, check out this video for step-by-step instructions.

Whether you’re going to make french fries, or you’re going to get a little bit more creative like I’m going to do today, Avantco fryers are an inexpensive way to get into the frying business. Today I’m going to make that carnival favorite, fried cola. Here, let me show you how. First, I’m going to start with Gold Medals Old Fashioned Funnel Cake Mix. A fried coke is basically a modified funnel cake, and we’re going to add that in. Now I’m going to add some Fox’s brand cola. This is going to give it a good flavor. We’re using this in place of water. We’ll mix it in, and it’s going to make a nice thin batter. Well take this batter and just dollop it into the fryer. You don’t have to be real particular; you’re not trying to win a beauty contest with your funnel cake pieces. As they get brown on one side, just flip them over with a slotted spoon. When they’re completely brown, just bring them out of the fryer, hang it up, and shake out the excess oil. The second part of a fried coke is the whipped cream, and I’m just going to start doing it the normal way I would with heavy cream and sugar, but then I’m going to add some Fox’s cola syrup that I tapped right out of the bag in the box. This is going to give the whipped cream a great cola flavor. We’ll just add that to our whipped cream whipper. We’re using the Whip-It brand whippers, which we sell on our site. To charge the whipper I’m just going to place a cartridge in the cartridge holder and twist until you hear a “whooshing” sound. Once you hear that, you know your container is charged, and then you just want to shake it up really well. Now we’ll just add our fried funnel cake pieces to our serving dish. You can use any kind of dish or cup that you like for this. And then we’ll add our flavored whipped cream. You can see how it’s got that brown tinge from the Fox’s cola syrup. Then we’ll just put our cherry on top to finish it off and there you have it! Fried cola!
