Enhance or change the color of desserts and many other dishes with this bright, tomato red food coloring! Without imparting any flavor, you can color candy, cakes, sauces, meats and other types of food. Combine this coloring with piping gel or frosting to create uniquely decorative topping, or add to chocolate cake batter for a beautiful and delicious red velvet cake! Since water-based food coloring, such as this, can affect the consistency of certain recipes when too much is used, it is best to add food color gradually until the desired hue is achieved. This red food color is definitely a tomato orange color more than red but adding more than necessary (for redvelvet cake/cupcakes) you can get close to a bright red color. I normally have to add a darker gel color along with my recipe.

This product is large and cheap, but it is definitely not suitable for making red velvet cake, as it claims in the description. This dye doesn't yield a true red, no matter how much you add. It gives more of a tomato soup hue.

For the price you pay, there isnt much to argue about this product. It produces a more brighter color than i expected but nontheless works fine

This coloring is good, and the shipping surprisingly was not that expensive, but in cakes and baked goods it comes out a little orangy-bronzish, so you just have to add a little more.

The red food coloring is a little lighter than I expected but it still gets the job done. I primarily use it in my red velvet cake and have to double the amount but it still is a nominal price compared to anywhere else. Well worth it!

Like most of the previous reviewers, I bought this food color because of the price for quantity. However, I was really disappointed in the color output as my red velvet cake took on a different hue than I was expecting. The output was more light orange than red even with my increasing the recommended amount needed.

Thanks for your review! We recommend that you gradually apply the food coloring until you have your desired red color.

I like the fact that you don't have to use as much red dye and your cakes for icing and I also don't have a aftertaste from this product

I was spending way too much money on red food coloring buying from grocery stores. I save a lot buying from webstaurants. I have high demand for Red Velvet cake and this is the perfect product to buy.

I bout this coloring to color my red velvet cake. I tend to like my red velvet cakes to be more of a brick red. I dont have to use much of this coloring tonget that look. Great and wont need much. As any other food coloring it will stain.

So worth the price! I make a lot of red velvet cakes and cupcakes so food coloring can get expensive. This works so beautifully well for all my red velvet needs

tomato red food coloring is the cheapest i have seen. making red velvet cakes, cupcakes needs a lot of food coloring. buying this will end your worries

Unbelievable value on food coloring! The local grocery store will charge you as much for an OUNCE as Webstaurant supplies for a GALLON !!! Uses for this are limitless. As so many others have mentioned, cupcakes, icing, and red velvet cake are naturals, but you can also add this to cookies, tortes, pastries, any kind of Valentines treat (just a few months away!), AND, as we use it for, Red Beer for Halloween!

We use this when making red velvet cake and strawberry cake as well as the icings that go with them. It doesnt take a lot so a gallon goes a long way. It works as well as any other coloring that we have tried.
Cindel S. from C&S Catering Service Posted on 08/30/2012
When they say Tomato Red, they MEAN tomato red. I bought a gallon for use in red velvet cupcakes but they came out orange so it will be perfect for Halloween!

When it comes to this food coloring, a little goes a long way! We use this in our red velvet cupcakes and it achieves a nice color with a minimal amount so it does not affect taste or texture.
Chelsea S. from Queen City Cupcakes Posted on 03/16/2012
I ordered two gallons of this food coloring for our red velvet cupcakes - the price is great. The color is more orangy than red, but our customers don't seem to mind!
