Overall User Rating: Taylor 584221 Mini Single Event Commercial Kitchen Timer ( 3.7 stars from 31 reviews )

I don't love this like I loved our other timers. It's kinda hard to use, having to push both buttons at once to clear it. And the magnets already fell out the back.

When it comes to telling time when anything you bake or this very clearly. The price is a great deal and it has a magnet to stick to the oven door or fridge. A great need for people who bake a lot, and will let you know when it is done.

    from Rosemarie T.C. Posted on

Small and durable these timers can take a beating. The only problem is battery replacement. I manage a pretzel store and we use Taylor timers so they see lots of action. They are a sure thing!

The timer feature works and is about as high quality that I would expect for the price. (Not sayin much). However, there is no reset button. What a pain in the neck to have to cycle all the way through to get back to 0.

Stopped working when close to heat or just around kitchen. Not recommended for heavy use. wont last long. I purchased a little more expensive one and last longer.

    from AL Carbon Posted on

Thank you for your review, Myriam! We are sorry this timer did not last under the high heat you needed it for. We recommend keeping this timer away from heat, using its magnet to mount on a refrigerator or elsewhere where it will not come in contact with higher temperatures.

Simple, cheap thermometer. Nothing special about it, but also not terribly well built. So far, no trouble with broken display but have also used it very lightly.

from Mike's Mindful Plate Posted on

This is a good, simple timer for your every day kitchen needs. It only manages one timer at a time, but if you don't need anything multifunction, this is a good choice.

from Madison Sourdough Company Posted on

We bought a couple of these timers and they lasted about a months before they started to screw up. The digits wouldn't display correctly anymore even after replacing the batteries. The buttons stopped working on one of them completely. We bought the more high end cooking timers after throwing these out.

Thank you for your review! We are sorry to hear that the thermometer has not worked out for you. If you are still looking to purchase one or if you would like to buy more, we suggest this Taylor Splash and Drop Kitchen Timer.

I bought two of these timers to use in my food wagon to time the cooking of chicken cutlets and other various items that require timing. I owned and used them for about a week before they both broke. The digital readout would fade in and out. So half the time you couldn't read the display. These timers are cheap in price and cheap in make. I do not recommend this product at all. They don't even deserve one star.

Great little kitchen timer! I bought a few of these to have around for timing different items and they all work great! They have saved bacon from being burned, pots from boiling over and casseroles from being over cooked already! Worth their weight in gold!

    from Sunset Grill Posted on

I am not sure why this is considered to be a "commercial timer" as it is the same as what you can get at a chain store. The beep is very quiet and most commercial equipment is loud, so this is best used at home in a more quiet environment

from Gluten Free Kids Posted on

Thank you for your review! If you would prefer a timer with a louder volume, check out the Taylor 5862 4 channel pocket timer which has a louder alarm than comparable alternatives.

    WEBstaurantStore.com Customer Solutions

This timer is very thin, so unlike our other ones, it isn't knocked off of the oven as easily. It stays more flush with the oven and out of the way. Easy to read and to set, but the alarm beep is quieter than our other ones.

    Taylor 584221 Timer,

Purchased 6 of these for use in my food cart to time fried foods being cooked. Loved the low profile display, which made it difficult to knock off of a refrigerator compared to timers that protrude further. Liked the alarm sound. Liked the buttons. But, after a month of use, the display has gone out on 4 of the 6 timers. I am looking for new timers to purchase as a replacement as I anticipate the remaining two to go out. Really disappointed in the quality here.

good ism to use in the kitchen when you have too many things going on and need something to remind you, easy to use and good price.

    from ERA Posted on

I have purchased three of these, and I was very disappointed with the quality. The first timer lasted about two days, and the screen stopped working. The second timer lasted two or three weeks, and its screen stopped working as well. The last timer has been holding on for about nine months, but its buttons get stuck and sometimes don't work. The size and price are nice, but they're very cheap.

These timers are pretty small. Which is a good thing. And the magnet on the back is fairly strong considering the size of the timer, too, so big plus there. Only thing is the alarm isn't very loud. But, with a timer this small, you shouldn't be expecting a huge sound, so if you have a huge kitchen, or it's really noisy, then this isn't the timer for you. But if you have a small area, or if it's going to always be close buy, then the price is a steal.

from A Tasty Affair Posted on

This timer was great at first, easy to use, easy to hear and see numbers, but it didn't last long in our busy coffee shop, it broke within a handful of weeks, one of the buttons ended up getting jamed.

from The Artful Bean Posted on

We ordered these for our new coffee shop a few months ago and they are still working just fine. They were cheaper than elsewhere and arrived promptly.

taylor mini single event commerical kitchen timer works great for cookin and bakein. it is nice and loud sow you can here it. and at a very low buy

    from virginias place Posted on

These are good timers, but they are smaller than they seem. The magnet is not the strongest, but overall it does what a timer should do.

    Posted on

The batteries tend to run down pretty quickly as there is no way to turn the screen off when not in use. Other than that, they work fine and make a nice loud beep.

from Company Shops Market Posted on

Excellent timer! Very simple to set and use, fits easily in pocket to keep track of things. I keep several on my counter and set them as needed.

These no frills timer are a good economical choice. You can buy four of them for a fraction of the cost of a big fancy multiple timer. We stick them directly on our ovens to easily know which timer corresponds to which oven. Beautiful!

    from Rainbow Bakery Posted on

These timers are sleek and attractive (which I always appreciate) and are a bit louder than other timers I've tried in this price range. If you're in a loud kitchen, you're really going to need something more but they work very well for my needs. They hold program for repeated use and are very user friendly.

    from Kitty's Coffee Posted on

Nice to have these magnetic timers for the kitchen. We use them for timing the mixing of our dough or regulating the time of the oven conveyor. Perfect size and easy to store when you can just keep it on the side of the freezer or walk-in.

    from Michael's Pizza Posted on

Do yourself a favor and upgrade to a better timer than this one. It beeps too quite and it is hard to read from across the room.

from annaB's gluten free LLC Posted on

This is a basic timer that gets the job done. We like that it also show seconds as well as minutes. We also like that the timer resets back to the setting. Saves time when using the same time over and over.

    from Sbarro Pizzeria Posted on

this little timer is great. you will never forget about anything that is in the oven. our oven timer at work broke so this is a perfect replacement

I bought about five of these at once, and set them up around the kitchen to alert us to when various things are ready. The thing is that if you leave the kitchen and go into the office, you're going to have trouble hearing the timer go off. This is not an issue if you're just one room over, or on the other side of a large kitchen. It's even fine during dinner rush, as long as you're nearby. However, when things get noisy, I want a timer whose alarm will cut through the chaos, and let me hear it loudly. DEFINITE PRO: The battery is neatly locked into the machine, and the magnet is built into the body, so neither piece will pop off, and cause issues. In other words, I'll use these on the hot line, but not to time the oven for cakes and things.

Thanks for your review! If you are looking for a very loud timer, we would suggest the Taylor 5839 Four Event Commercial Kitchen Timer. It comes with a 100 dB alarm to alert you when time is up.
