InSinkerator Disposer Installation

InSinkerator Disposer Installation

In this video, you will learn how to install your InSinkerator disposer properly.

The following procedures will help you install an InSinkerator food service disposer properly. First, if this is not a new installation clear the drain line of any waste. Auger the drain line from the drain trap to the main waste line to ensure that it is clear. A typical installation incorporates the following items: Disposer, disposer mounting, control center, solenoid valve, flow control valve, syphon breaker, electrical supply, drain line, water shut off valve, and the cold water supply. Prior to unpacking, verify the carton labels match each other and the power supply. After unpacking check to ensure that the spec plate on both the disposer and the control panel match the power supply. If required, install the disposer leg assembly on the SS-50 to SS-200 disposer. Note that the SS-300 and the larger disposers come with factor install legs. If your disposer is using a competitive mounting adapter it is recommender to install it with legs. Also use legs if the SS-120 and SS-200 is using the # 5 flange. To install the legs, first turn the unit upside down. Pry two guide hole plugs from the bottom cover. Make sure that the threaded stud is extended a minimum of 1-1/8” from the outer tube assembly. Insert the leg assemblies through the lower frame guide holes. Insert the screwdriver into the tube assembly and position in the slotted end of the threaded stud. Tighten the threaded stud into the threaded holes located in the upper end bell, and tighten both studs. Place the O ring on the tuber assembly and push up flush against the bottom cover. Place the washer inside of the guide hole plugs, and place on the bottom of the outer tube assembly. Now, you’re ready to install the disposer. The legs can be adjusted by turning the outer tube assembly until the assembly legs stand on the floor. To mount a disposer to an InSinkerator sink bowl or #6 or #7 mounting adaptor follow these instructions. Place the mounting flange up over the existing color adapt connect lip. It may require a slit force fit. Force the mounting flange up out of the way and fit the mounting gasket onto the sink bowl connect lip. Move the mounting flange down over the mounting gasket. Be certain that the threaded fasteners in the mounting flange fit into recesses into the top of the mounting gasket. Attach two screws through opposite holes in the mounting gasket and into the threaded fasteners in the mounting flange. The screws should be protruding approximately 1/4” below the mounting gasket. Position the disposer beneath the mounting gasket and engage the two protruding screws into key hole slots in the disposer body flange. This may require the use of an assistant or a block of wood to ease installation. Assembly the remaining 4 screws and turn the disposer into place for plumbing connections. Tighten all screws evenly to secure the unit. To install a #5 sink flange follow the instructions supplied with the kit. The #5 sink flange mounts to a standard 3-1/2 to 4” opening. When installing an InSinkerator disposer to another type of sink bowl, a special mounting adaptor is required. WE have a adaptors to fit most sink designs. Control the adapter guide for more information. When connecting the disposer to the incoming water supply, use as few elbows and tees as possible. Connect to the cold water line only. Install the flow control valve, water solenoid valve and the syphon breaker according the direction of the flow arrows marked on each valve body. It is recommended to use as shut off valve. Use the supplied water flow restrictor to ensure you have the proper flow. If there is too much water in the disposer the food will not grind completely. If there is too little water in the disposer, the food waste may not flow to the main sewer line. When connecting the drain line place the p-trap or floor drain as close to the disposer outlet flange as possible. Do not use plumbers putty on the threaded connection, instead use tape. Do not flex the connection. Consult the installation guide to find the recommended drain line diameter for your disposer’s model. Check to make sure that the proper slope is use with the connection going from the disposer to the floor drain or sewer connection. With this installation, we’re showing you the aquasaver disposer control center, which operates the disposer and control center operations. Each control has its own installation manual detailing how to connect the disposer, control, solenoid valve and power supply. Make sure the control center is properly grounded. If this is a new installation make sure that there is no construction debris in the disposer grind chamber. Verify the disposer is function properly by checking for leakers and the fresh water connections, mounting color and the waste outlet. Checking for excessive vibration and if the control center has reversing capabilities, confirm that it will reverse. If the control center is equipped with a post flush, ensure that the water runs after the disposer is turned off per the post flush setting: one – ten minutes. For more details on troubleshooting and operation, reference the installation manual included with your disposer. All disposers are backed by a one year one-site warranty on parts and labor. InSinkerator Disposer Operation

InSinkerator Disposer Operation

Check out this video to learn how to use your InSinkerator disposer! Plus, learn how it can help save you time and money while increasing efficiency.

The following procedures will help you operate and InSinkerator food service disposer properly. First, let’s discuss what should and shouldn’t be placed into the disposer. Items that can be placed into the disposer consist of fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry dairy products, breads and grain products, bones and seafood. Items that should not be placed into the InSinkerator disposer consist of large amounts of string and fibrous materials such as artichokes, pineapple tops, corn husks as well as oyster shells as these items may cause drain line clogs. It is also recommended to avoid silverware, soda cans, glass, lids, plastic wrap, latex gloves and corrosive chemicals. Now we’re ready to operate the disposer. If this is a new installation make sure there is no construction debris in the disposer grind chamber. Do not preload the disposer with food waste prior to starting. Push the start button on the control panel to turn on the disposer and start water flowing into the disposer. Feed food waste into the disposer in a steady continuous flow. This food waste is ground into small particles in the disposer grind chamber. The ground food waste is then transferred through the plumbing into the main sewer line and ends up at the waste water treatment plant for processing. After all food waste is flushes away, allow the disposer to run for 30-60 seconds to clear itself before pushing the stop button on the control center to stop the unit. If a disposer should experience a jam, the disposer overload will trip. To free a jam follow these steps: Turn the control off and if equipped turn on the disconnect switch. Reach into the disposer and remove the excess material. Does the rotating shredder spin freely? If not, place the de-jamming wrench down onto the rotating shredder bars and rotate back and forth until the jam is free. Then remove the jammed item. Press the disposer overload reset button. If equipped, turn on the disconnect switch and wait 30 seconds. Turn the disposer on and begin feeding food waste into the disposer. To not use a hammer and pry bar as this may damage the rotating shredder. In review, to ensure optimal operation of your InSinkerator food waste disposer, we recommend that you start the unit prior to loading it, avoid batch feeding, gradually feed food waste and allow the unit to run 30-60 seconds after the last load of food waste has been processed. Using an InSinkerator food service disposer will help you reduce labor cost. Reduce waste hauling charges, increase efficiency and improve sanitation in your kitchen. And its good for the environment by keeping food waste out of landfills while using minimal water and electricity. Also, food waste put down the disposer can be captured as bio solids and used a fertilizer. Methane gas produced during treatment can be captured and recycled as energy. For more details on troubleshooting and operation reference the installation manual included with your disposer. All disposer are all backed by a 1 year one site warranty on parts and labor.
