Details

A popular shape of pasta in America and other countries around the world, this Barilla 16 oz. medium shell pasta is a must-have in any kitchen! Characteristically a concave shape that's covered in ridges, this seashell-like pasta holds onto your creamy signature sauces to ensure maximum flavor with every bite. Toss it with sweet ripe tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, fresh herbs, and olive oil for a delicious pasta salad, or use it to put a fun twist on your classic home-style macaroni and cheese. However it's prepared, this pasta brings a touch of warmth to the table, tantalizing the senses with the comforting aromas and tastes of authentic Italian cooking.

This pasta is made with the finest durum wheat semolina to deliver great taste and an "al dente" texture your customers crave, every time. Soft and fine, durum semolina is ideal for pasta, easily forming thin strands with its supple, moldable dough that will maintain their authentic shape when boiled. The pasta is also extremely simple to prepare, requiring approximately 8 minutes in boiling water. For every pound of pasta, use 4 quarts of water and add salt to taste. With occasional stirring, the shells will quickly become tender and ready for service. Simply add your preferred ingredients, plate, and serve! Keep this shell pasta on hand in your pantry to create satisfying dishes that keep customers coming back for more.

In 1877, Pietro Barilla opened a bread and pasta shop in Parma, Italy with the dream of supplying his community with the most delicious handmade bread and pasta to serve at their own family tables. Pietro and his son Riccardo worked tirelessly to make and deliver their products daily to the streets of Parma and over the years began to purchase more advanced pasta-making technology and warehouse space to keep up with the demand. After years of success and expansion due to their commitment to quality, authentic products and a passion for innovation, Barilla has since positioned itself as the world's leading industrial pasta producer. It remains an Italian family-owned company that is dedicated to bring high-quality, nutritious products while supporting an environmentally-sustainable production process from field to fork.
