What do the different pastry tube numbers mean?
For Ateco plain, open star, closed star, and French star pastry tubes, #0 - #9 indicates the size of each tip in comparison to the tube type. For example, plain #0 is the smallest plain tip available and plain #9 is the largest. Ateco's product numbers also assist with identifying tip types - plain: 800 – 809; open star: 820 – 829; closed star: 840 – 849; French star: 860 – 869.

This jagged tip is great for forming shells, stars, fleur-de-lis, rosettes, and flowers. The open star design produces a subtle texture great for a soft presentation. Made of durable stainless steel, this tube is seamless for comfortable use and long product life. Plus, its resilient material will not rust or bend out of shape.

Easily swap out different tube designs by using a coupler. This tip is compatible with Ateco 404 large coupler (sold separately).

    Fantastic quality decorating tip. The open star design is cut neatly. I love this size for frosting cupcakes and piping (large, not delicate) borders on cakes.

    I love this size tip it cuts my cup cake decorating in half. It also helps my mom decorate. All she has to do is squeeze.

    I used Wilton decorating tips before the Ateco tips and the difference between the two is very different. The Wilton tips are so fragile and I had more than one bend out of shape, messing up my piping. But the Ateco tips are so much sturdier that I have yet for one to bend. Another difference is size. I love the size of this one, it really covers then entire cupcake without too many layers like you would get with Wilton's largest tip. I really do recommend buying this tip.

    Great pastry tube. Quite large and sturdy. Great for pastries, but also great for savory dishes, like duchess potatoes. If you prefer to use a coupler, like I do, please note that this tube works with the Ateco LARGE 404 coupler. Keeps the tube in place and prevents accidentally sliding back into the bag.

    Ateco makes great quality frosting tips, and this one is my favorite because it's big enough for ease of frosting, but small enough that it creates the perfect ridges on cupcakes.

    I use this tube alot!

    Having only used Wilton tubes previously, I cannot adequately express how impressed I am with the Ateco line. They are strong and sturdy, and really great for anyone from beginner to master chef. And, purchasing through webstaurant, they are much more cost efficient than Wilton!
