Overall User Rating: 6" Round Mesh Skimmer ( 5.0 stars from 9 reviews )

A great size for the home chef. A long handle and big basket make getting deep-fried foods out of the oil a breeze. Great for transferring blanched foods to an ice bath. I also use it for removing the large bones or veggies from a pot of stock before straining through a fine-mesh strainer. I find the mesh a little large for some "skimming" but it does work great for removing larger bits.

The 6" is the perfect size for a home cook. It is great for frying or for removing pasta from it's cooking water (doing it that way rather than a colander helps me remember to save some all important starchy cooking water).

I use this at home, I am not a professional. To be honest when I bought this I did not have a specific use in mind. I thought maybe it could be used to skim the fat off chicken soup/chicken stock. But the mesh is not fine enough for that. However, I have found so many other uses for this skimmer! When I am making small portions of macaroni for one of my kids, I use this instead of a colander to drain the pasta as it's smaller and easier to wash. I've drained berries and other small items after washing too--there are nearly endless uses for this item and for the price, just get one!

This 6" round mesh skimmer is a great tool in our restaurant. It is used to remove items from our fryers and keep it clean of particles. It is very well constructed.

I had initially purchased this skimmer for removing foamy impurities in stocks and soups, which it does very well. Lately, though, I've used this skimmer to quickly remove greens, potatoes, and various fruits from boiling water when I am blanching them. I've also used it to remove items from my deep fryer, but the 6" model may be a bit too large for that exclusive purpose.

My wife loves this and uses it for all sorts of things in our kitchen. She fries a ton of stuff now and uses this to strain whatever it might be, very easy to use. The 6 inch head is quite sizable for a home kitchen and works well!

I should have bought this skimmer when we first opened our doors, it is wonderful for getting the particles out of our fryer, picking up chicken and fish because it is so wide and easy to clean and store. Buy several!

This skimmer is as practical as it is inexpensive. Great for any kitchen. Professional quality as used in many restaurants. As a chef, I use this great tool as a skimmer, strainer, spatula ext. Can't see myself without one!

This is a very well made skimmer. The handle is a bit longer than I anticipated, but for shallow work I just "choke up" on it. I used it the first time for boiling bagels and it worked like a charm.
