How can I properly care for cast iron surfaces?
In order to prevent unwanted build-up of oils, grease, and food, surfaces should be cleaned after use while still slightly warm. Harsh chemicals or scouring pads should not be used—only hot water and a cloth or sponge are needed. If some areas require extra cleaning, a mild scouring pad can be used. Please refer to our Pan Seasoning Guide for further information on properly cleaning and seasoning cast iron surfaces.

This 10" cast iron skillet is perfect for making smaller portions of any entree, or you can use it as a serving piece. Cast iron skillets have several advantages over other types of cookware. First, cast iron is an ideal heat conductor. Because it heats evenly and consistently with no "hot spots," foods cook better with less chance of scorching.

    cast iron great seasoned heat pan price skillet holds pans

    This Skillet is a Great Value for the Money. If used for cooking Only I feel this would be a great product as it already comes seasoned and ready to go. However, I use mine as a Wood Chip holder in the bottom of my Food Smoker right over long periods of Direct Heat and It has Cracked due to intense heat and water sprayed on the Chips to prevent Flare Ups. At this price though I cannot complain as I am Still using the Cracked skillet and it works great for what I need.

    We are switching all our pans over to cast iron. Doesn't work well on the electric stove top, but with gas it works really well.

    Not being able to tell the difference between a regular cast iron frying pan and one that comes pre-seasoned, I ordered the non pre-seasoned one. Of coarse chef hubby explained to me the difference. So this frying pan was sent to the Homeless Veteran Shelter which it will get great uses. But I did order the correct pre-seasoned cast iron frying pan, in the end one happy retired chef hubby.

    This cast iron pan is a good value for the price I paid, however I think I may consider sanding the inner surface just a bit to make it smoother. Also, I think the 12" model would have been a better choice for general purpose use.

    Good, solid, heavy. Have yet to use it in the oven but it does a wonderful job on the stove top. Holds heat well. As with all cast-iron products, make sure to season well before use.

    For the money there isn't a better heat conductor out there then cast iron. Once seasoned properly they will hold a nonstick surface for as long as you treat them right.

    I just recently switched from French style Black Steel pans to these more economical Cast Iron Skillets. There are a few hot spots around the pan, and their heat retention isn't as high as black steel, but their cost to effectiveness ratio blows black steel out of the water.

    A cast iron skillet is the best pan to use hands down!! Its great for searing a steak, making corn bread, or making tart tatan. It does it all!!
