After completing my marketing degree and MBA at York College, I was looking for an employer who had a goal and a vision that aligned with mine. I wasn't just looking for a job to pay the bills; I was looking for somewhere to launch a successful career. After interviewing with WebstaurantStore, I knew I had found a company that was heading in the right direction, and would provide me with the opportunity to grow along with them.
Every day, I'm able to apply the business concepts, critical thinking abilities, and leadership skills I gained through York College's Dual Degree program. I work with an amazing group of dedicated people who push themselves - and everyone around them - to be a great employee. Even better, the company provides plenty of perks, including industry training, catered lunches, flexible schedules, and a casual work environment. This lets me know that they are truly invested in employee retention. Plus, I know that they are committed to helping me reach my professional goals, just as I'm committed to helping the company reach its goals.
There are many things I enjoy about working at WebstaurantStore, and the people here make it an amazing place to work. As a 2012 Recreation Graduate of York College, I thought my career would be all fun and games, and thankfully it kind of is! While not directly in my field of study, my job still allows me to play air hockey, Wii, darts, and billiards at work - just to name a few! I also take part in a ping-pong league at our Lititz location and play in a rec league soccer team with some fellow team members.
Professionally, I was able to use the skills learned at York College to be a successful Customer Solutions Specialist. Problem solving, effective communication, and a positive attitude are a few of the characteristics that I learned in school, which all have contributed to my success at WebstaurantStore. As the company continues to grow, so do those that are a part of it! For me, that opportunity presented itself recently, as I was asked to lead a team of Customer Solutions Specialists. This role came with the responsibility to advance the culture of current and future employees, which to me is no “game.” To reiterate, the people here make WebstaurantStore amazing, and I'm very fortunate to be a part of this group.
I graduated from York College in 2010 and worked several years in my field of Recreation before starting to search for something different. I was looking for a job that had a consistent schedule since my husband and I were starting to expand our family, and I found that at WebstaurantStore!
I help customers all day via email and live chat. My coworkers and fellow team members help make the days fly by. It's amazing to watch the growth of the company and to know that I am contributing to the milestones we hit. The weekly catered lunches, product trainings, and on-site fitness center. are a few other perks that I enjoy!
While attending the Spartan Career Fair my last semester at York, I discovered The WebstaurantStore and the wonderful Software Engineering opportunities they had to offer. After reaching out to the table recruiters, I found myself at an interview in Lititz the next week. Of course I was nervous; this was one of the first few real-world job interviews I was attending. Yet as I sat down in an interview with senior-level developers, I felt much more confident. They were not looking for what I had learned, they were looking for my potential to grow as a new Software Engineer, starting fresh and pressing forward. Needless to say I got the job and started 2 weeks after I graduated in the spring of 2016.
After the first year, I can see and feel the radical growth in my development skills. While YCP gave me the tools and knowledge to code, WebstaurantStore taught me how best to use them. I approach ever more challenging projects, with smarter and faster ideas. Working here has strengthened my professional career and lifestyle. Along with great team cooperation, fun activities, and incredible food, life here at WebstaurantStore is an amazing employment opportunity.
