We’re looking for a Director of Graphic Design who brings clarity, direction, and momentum to our growing creative organization. This role leads multiple design managers and team leads, guiding a 30-person graphic design team that shapes the visual expression of our brands. The Director ensures our design practice consistently produces excellent experiences, recognizable brands, and forward-thinking creative work that advances business goals 


The right person balances creative vision with operational structure. They know how to lead design leaders, build scalable systems, and partner cross-functionally to make design a strategic advantage for the business. 

Remote Work Qualifications

  • Access to a reliable and secure high-speed internet connection. Cable or fiber internet connections (at least 75mbps download/10mbps upload) are preferred, as satellite connections often cannot support the technologies used to perform day-to-day tasks.
  • Access to a home router and modem.
  • A dedicated home office space that is noise- and distraction-free. The space should have strong wireless connection or a wired Ethernet connection (wired connection is preferred, if possible).
  • A valid, physical address (apartment, suite, etc.). PO Boxes are not supported, as a physical address is required for you to receive your computer equipment.
  • The desire and ability to work and communicate with other team members via chat, webcam, etc.
  • Legal residents of one of the following states: (AK, AL, AR, AZ, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, ND, NH, NM, NV, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WI, WV, and WY).

We only accept W-2 candidates, H-1B sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

Creative / Practice (20%) 

  • Define and uphold the creative vision, standards, and methodology for the design organization 
  • Champion design quality and consistency across all touchpoints 
  • Ensure design work reflects a clear understanding of brand, customer, and business context 
  • Provide strategic creative direction and constructive feedback to managers and leads 

 

People (25%) 

  • Lead and mentor design managers and leads, supporting their growth as both creative and people leaders 
  • Foster a culture that values collaboration, curiosity, and craft 
  • Partner with senior leadership on hiring, performance, and development plans 
  • Maintain strong team health through clear expectations, communication, and accountability 


Business (30%) 

  • Align design priorities with core initiatives and marketing strategies 
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to plan, scope, and resource 
  • Advocate for design as a driver of measurable business value and brand equity 
  • Translate business needs into clear creative direction and frameworks for execution 


Operations (25%) 

  • Build and maintain processes that support efficiency, transparency, and high output 
  • Oversee staffing and capacity planning across teams 
  • Ensure smooth coordination and communication between design, content, marketing, and production teams 
  • Continuously refine how work moves from intake to delivery to improve quality, efficiency and team experience 

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed while sitting/standing and interfacing with a personal computer.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires occasional bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Requires the ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 50lbs.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 15+ years of experience leading large creative teams (20+ designers) through managers and leads 
  • Strong track record of elevating design quality and aligning creative work with business goals 
  • Expertise in brand systems, campaign design, and cross-channel creative execution 
  • Experience managing creative operations, workflows, and design systems at scale 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma; experience in motion or digital design a plus 

Education
