1st Shift Outbound Team Lead (Mon-Thurs)

Job Summary

The Outbound Team Lead maintains in-depth knowledge of our products and operating procedures and stays in regular contact with the shift manager and peers in each department to meet daily goals.  This position identifies operating issues and takes corrective action as needed; this includes receiving and providing clear directions, as well as serving as a role model of our culture to effectively communicate with employees and drive engagement.

Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties below to a high standard. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Ensure that all orders are printed and picked in a timely manner; utilize the error log to review/address issues and track accountability
• Oversee pickers to ensure accuracy, picking is performed by layer, clean-as-you-go approach is taken, and stock skids are clear by the end of shift  
• Ensure all transfers are completed in a timely manner and interface with Receiving team as needed 
• Coordinate pick-ups with all trucking companies to ensure timely scheduling 
• Oversee daily operations in the department to ensure a high level of productivity and quality while achieving operating goals; promote team adherence to Company policies and procedures 
• Monitor and provide consistent feedback to employees on individual and team performance on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis 
• Conduct daily team meetings to update employees on work expectations, task assignments, best practices and operating expectations 
• Clearly communicate team goals, resolve problems as they arise, and answer any related questions 
• Develop a cross-trained team that can flex into other departments or jobs as needed  
• Maintain a high level of communication with Outbound teams and management on a daily basis; partner with other team leads to flex hours where necessary 
• Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

• Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 12 hours/day.
• Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
• Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
• Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
• Requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 75lbs.

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Occasional activities may involve exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal. 

Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a distribution environment; shipping experience preferred but not required
