Job Summary

The Custodial Team Leader works closely with the Facilities Manager to ensure the upkeep, custodial service, supply replenishment, and floor care for our distribution center. The Custodial Team Leader should have knowledge of our equipment, warehouse procedures, policies, and our cultural expectations. The Custodial Team Leader will hold themselves to the highest company standards and should be in good attendance and safety standing.

SHIFT SCHEDULE

  • Monday-Thursday from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM 

Responsibilities

Assist Facilities Manager and/or Assistant Facilities Manager in supervising and coordinating the activities of custodial staff, such as:

  • Training new custodial staff and provide ongoing guidance and support
  • Monitoring team performance and providing feedback to ensure high standards
  • Enforcing health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
  • Implementation and monitoring of safety programs and procedures
  • Preparing reports on team performance and cleaning standards
  • Budget preparation for custodial operations

Perform inspections to ensure high cleaning standards, including:

  • Floors are swept, mopped, and vacuumed regularly
  • Restrooms, break rooms, and office areas are clean
  • Surfaces and equipment are dusted and maintained properly
  • Trash and recyclables are collected and disposed of, and waste bins and recycling stations are maintained and serviced regularly

Additional duties included:

  • Maintain records of cleaning activities and supply usage, order and replenish supplies as needed to ensure availability
  • Organize and maintain storage areas for cleaning equipment and materials
  • Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
  • Report any safety hazards, broken equipment, or maintenance needs to the assistant manager or manager
  • Serve as a resource for all employees regarding job tasks, company policies and procedures and warehouse initiatives
  • Work closely with team members and leadership to meet daily, weekly, and monthly departmental goals
  • Abide by all company and warehouse policies
  • Flex into other positions and departments and undertake additional duties as necessary to support the overall operation

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 12 hours/day.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 75lbs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Occasional activities may involve exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 1 year of relevant experience in a distribution environment preferred but not required

Education

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
