I purchased this Wilton cake lifter in part because of the Wilton brand name, and partly because of the slim design. The handle is a really nice grippy silicone, so even though it's lower profile than some of the long handled varieties, it gives one a very nice, strong grip. I tried using this with a 9" cake and it performed beautifully. The stainless steel portion is thick enough that it doesn't flex under the weight, so you don't need to worry about losing your cake, or it sliding off accidentally.
