Here are a few daily tips for cleaning and maintaining your Grindmaster machine. When used as a countertop machine, the waste tray and internal grounds bucket should be cleaned daily. Simply remove the waste liquids tray by pulling it loose from the machine. Keep in mind that it is possible to do this while the main door of the machine is locked. After cleaning the liquid tray, place a few drops of dish detergent in the tray to make the next day's process easier. Next, remove the grounds bucket and dump the old coffee grounds. Many users find this process cleaner with the use of a paper towel in the bottom of the tray. This step must be performed with power applied to the machine in order to reset the tray counter in the machine. The machine must see the tray switch open and close to reset the tray count. When the machine is reassembled, run a manual wash cycle. Also, making sure the machine's automatic wash cycle is set will help the machine stay clean. Many users set their time to wash at 01:00. This will enable the machine to run an automatic wash cycle at 1:00 am. Now, we will go over a few weekly tips for cleaning your Grindmaster. Depending on usage and need, weekly cleaning may be necessary only on a bi-weekly basis. The volume of drinks vended from your machine will dictate how often the following steps should be taken. A weekly cleaning of the Koro or Korinto espresso machine should begin with removing the suction powder box, mixing bowl, and the whipper housing and cleaning them with hot water and detergent. Next, remove the liquid waste tray and the solid waste tray. Clean them by the method described in the daily cleaning description. With a moist cloth or cleaning brush, clean any excess powder or dirt that may have accumulated inside the cabinet. Reassemble the powder suction box, mixing bowl, and whipper housing. After everything has been reassembled, run a manual wash cycle. Alternatively, a wash cycle can be run with the door closed. To do this, a password must first be set in the programming under the Wash Password Menu. Once this is done, ensure the door is closed and enter the password using the selection keys numbered 0-7 from left to right. Next, we will go over a few monthly cleaning tips. Once a month, the brewer should be moved and cleaned. To remove the brewer, first remove the dispenser nozzle assembly. Then, pull the lower water line out of the dispense nozzle. Next, unscrew the nut holding the inlet water line in place. Take special care when removing the brewer. Don't lose the O-ring on the water entry line. In the event that you do lose it, a spare O-ring is included in the back that was shipped with the machine when it was new. Finally, unscrew the green knob that holds the brewer in place. At this point, you can pull the brewer out of the machine. The brewer can be cleaned with soap and water and is dishwasher safe. To reinstall the brewer, make sure that the arrow on the cam and the arrow on the body of the brewer are aligned. The drive arm should be aligned with the 1:00 reference. Although the arrows may not line up perfectly, they will be very close. When tightening the thumb screw, it should turn easily. If it is difficult to turn, you have probably installed the brewer incorrectly. If the cam turns, the brewer and motor drive arm are misaligned. Reattach the water inlet line to the top of the brewer while taking care not to cross thread the thumb screw onto the plastic piston threads. Be sure that the O-ring is properly positioned before securing the line. Reposition the lower hose into the dispense nozzle plate. One difference between the Koro and Korinto brewers is that the Korinto brewer has the pin located on the brewer and is self-aligning. When the brewer is installed and cycled, the pin latches into the drive arm slot. Here are a few tips to cleaning and maintaining after six months. Remove the bean hopper and milk topping canister assemblies and clean the shelf on the inside. This is a great time to change your external water filter. This would also be a good time to check brewer O-rings for wear and preform a brewer service if necessary. See the relevant section of this video. Turn the green locking ring counter-clockwise to unlock the mixing bowl and whipper housing assembly. Remove the mixing bowl, whipper housing, and powder box assembly by pulling them forward. To remove the impeller, block the gear fitted on the mixer shaft with a finger. Turn the mixer impeller counter-clockwise to remove it from the shaft. The mixer flange assembly is attached with two Phillip’s head screws. Clean them by the method described in the daily cleaning description. Reinstall in the reverse order. Next, we will go over tips for yearly service. At least once a year, remove the back of the Koro espresso unit. Examine for leaks and any other potential problems. Also remove and clean all hoses, nozzles, and mixing bowls that come in contact with powders or coffee. Components should then be soaked in sanitizing for at least 20 minutes. After the machine is reassembled, run a wash cycle before putting the machine to use. Verify that there are no leaks before installing the back of the machine and putting the machine into service.
