I pretty much exclusively use pastry brushes for wet applications so i prefer boar bristle over plastic versions. this brush is really nice and it works out great for me for egg washes and brushing butter on biscuits.

great brush for egg washes and pastries

I'm extremely happy with this purchase! The bristles are firm yet soft on anything it touches. It holds plenty of liquid so you don't have to revisit your dipping bowl as often. Because it is natural bristle, I would clean it as soon as it is used so as to not cause it to clump or build mold.

This is a great little brush for cleaning up crumbs and other debris from cakes. I have some larger ones, but these are great when I just want to do a littquick clean up.

from The Sweetest Things, LLC Posted on

This is my go to brush for egg wash. The width of the brush allows you to cover a lot of surface area in a short amount of time. Also great for topping meatloaf or even buttering bread.

I bought this 2" boar bristle pastry brush because it has a plastic ring holding the bristle instead of a metal one. My old metal one would rust when washing it.

    Posted on

I have both the 1.5 inch and the 2 inch brushes and they have been great to me so far. It has been a couple of months of use and they are holding up well. I use one for sweet type things and one for savory type things, so the flavors do not mix. It helps if you dry them hanging from the eye (I use an S hook) or lying flat on its side so that the moisture drips downwards instead of deep into the head of the brush bristles. I have seen minimal bristle loss using these brushes compared to others I have used in the past.

    from Magna Posted on

Great pastry brush, use it for buttering many baked goods, and to glaze over sauces on steaks and fish, cleans up nice, and no metal parts for rusting.

    Posted on

Great brush, but it was too big for my everyday use. The hair is intact and soft. I primary use it for brushing flour off the dough.

    Posted on

These brushes are great until they aren't. They start losing their bristles after a while, usually without warning. You won't know until you start finding them in the food.

    from Rise Bakery Posted on

This product meets my business needs. It is of good quality and at a great price. It's works perfectly for brushing off small pieces of equipment (i.e. crumbs on panini grill, coffee grinds off grinder)

from The Bean Tap Posted on

Soft pastry brush that makes it easy to add an egg wash or spread butter on to pastry and pies amongst other things. Nice handle and an appealing design and look.

from Sweet Pea's Cupcakery Cafe Posted on

    Spreads butter easily.

A pastry brush is a pastry brush. Does the job, bristles fall off a little too often, which is always frustrating, but value for the cost.

from The Pizza Man Posted on

I love this brush for brushing bakery items with butter, olive oil, or a glaze. They hold up well after washing, and the bristles are secure in the handle.

I keep many of these brushes on hand for uses that range from brushing melted butter on puff pastry to applying barbecue sauce on meat. They work very well for any liquid and are very easy to clean.

Like the size of this 2inch boar brush. The bristles are nice and soft, and a very good pice on this site. Think I will get more

from Place to be Bistro Posted on

Good to brush the crew cream oh the top of my pies

I love these pastry brushes! They are amazing! They never lose hairs like some I've purchased and cost a fraction of the price. I use them for BBQing, pies, etc!

    from Ashleigh Luna Posted on

I use this to make my baklava and it is pretty much the worst brush i have ever used. Pieces of the brush keep coming off on my pastry layers and so I will retire this brush. I would NOT recommend this brush, and I am kind of shocked they even offer such a low quality brush on a website that is predominantly for the food industry.

We use this brush to clean up grounds in and around our coffee grinders. Works great and hasn't started losing bristles and we bought it months ago. Good price.

Great wonderful boar bristle brush. It serves many uses in our restaurant from coating or doughs and pastries. Cant beat the price and the fast shipping.

from Russ' Sub Shack Posted on

Great for the price -- perfect for pastry but will also stand up to thinner sauces. Handwash -- the heat from the dishwasher can harm the seal on the handle.

I use the brush to clean coffee chaf from coffee roasting equipment. Brush does the job but needs to be hand washed prior to first use to remove loose bristles.

from Reserva Coffee Roasters Posted on

This brush is a great addition to any kitchen! Super fair price, and it holds up very well to continual use. All of the bristles have stayed perfectly in tact. A must-have.

Used the 2" Boar Bristle Pastry Brush to wipe butter all over tortilla. Easily melted the butter, then dabbed the brush into the butter and was easily able to smother the butter all over the tortilla. Great gadget.

from jwhitten31 on Youtube Posted on

Excellent pastry brush. Solid construction, strong bristle hold, good balance in the hand. Effectively distributes liquid onto desired product. Bristles are soft enough so that delicate application is no problem.

    Posted on

I use the heck out of these and they hold up very well. For the price, it can't be beat. The bristles stay in tact, it's easy to clean as long as you don't let stuff cake into it, and they are durable. I bought three last year and use them a crazy amount, and just recently the first one came lose from the base. For the price, I'll take 3/4 of a year of every day use any day of the week.

THIS IS A BUY IF YOU BAKE ITEMS. I HAD A SMALLER ONE THAT SEEMED TO HAD IT. BOUGHT THIS SIZE AND WORKS FANTASTIC WHEN I BAKE ITEMS FOR HUSBAND AND I. GREAT PRICE, AND WASHING IN WATER AND LETTING IT DRY THOUGHLY IS A MUST BEFORE STORING.

    from Retired Psychologist Posted on

This is a handy, quick and easy tool to butter rolls. This allows you to put as much butter on anything you want. It is lightweight which makes it easy to handle. At the end of the handle is a convenient hole for storing.

These are nice brushes that hold up well. We usually use them for soaking cakes or brushing egg wash on croissants. They do not hold up well to heat though- i had an employee burn the tips while brushing oil on a hot griddle.

from Treva's Pastries and Fine Foods Posted on

A good quality brush that has held up well in my commercial bakery. The size is just right for use on breads, pastries, or glazing desserts.

    Posted on

This is a nice pastry brush. Use it regularly for egg washing breads and pastries. Also use it to soak cakes with syrups. It is nice and flexible but holds together nicely. I don't worry about stray bristles floating around in my soaking liquids.

from The Blue Bandana Posted on

This brush is used to brush butter on our calzones, bristles do not come out on the product and it holds up without the bristles being bent in several directions.

    from Genovese's Posted on

This brush is delicate enough to not bruise my leavened doughs, but it is also resistant enough to be washed by hand without fear of shedding bristles. I use it on all types of breads and pastries, and it has become a very helpful tool in my kitchen.

    Posted on

Not much to say here, brush has held up well over the past six months and I would definitely reorder when the time comes to replace it.

from The Hungry Pelican Posted on

Nice medium wide brush that coats lots of surface area and is fairly durable. These do not hold up well under heat though, be sure to get the silicone ones if that's what you need.

from Mike's Mindful Plate Posted on

I purchased this boar bristle brush after doing a ton of research. In my quest to have a sturdy brush that didn't shed its bristles on my cake and, even worse, when prepping my pan, I found that boar bristles are less likely to do just that. So far so good. I've not seen any hairs come out even after washing. Perfect!

from Tulip Tree Bakery Posted on

A rather good pastry brush at a great price. It applies easily and smoothly, and was pleasantly surprised that it's dishwasher safe. On my reorder list!

    from Vamcomplex USA Posted on

very nice an high quality of this 2" Boar Bristle Pastry Brush love using this for making pastry and some my baked goodies awesome great brush

from ashlexdrei tradings /sweets by chef jhay Posted on

It's a pastry brush. No frills. It loses bristles from early on as most of them do, even though we always hand wash and air dry. Still, nothing unexpected. Will continue to use.

    Posted on

Soaks up washes and oils well, I like the natural bristle better than synthetic, great for breads, pastries, and even chicken. A little maintenance and bristles should last long time...don't soak in liquids up to the handle, and make sure to wash and air dry

    Posted on

These two inch brushes are the perfect size for my pastry. Always wanted a great sheen to your pastry, an even egg-wash is key. With these they really hold on to the liquid and give things an even coat.

from The Travels Inc Posted on

gives your pastry the perfect sheen

This brush is good for finer detailed jobs. I use a silicon brush for things like coating confections with chocolate, but this brush works great when you don't want to leave any "lines." I did notice that after time it starts to lose bristles, but this happened with our last set, which had gone through the dishwasher many times (I now know NOT to do that). Hand wash and air dry, and it will last much longer.

A great pastry brush at a great price. It applies liquids easily and smoothly with a delicate touch. Cleans easily in the dishwasher. I will be buying more!

2" Boar Bristle Pastry Brush , A+ This product was true to it's description, and it is exactly what we were looking for. Would definitely reorder

    from Walden CIA Posted on

Great value for the price! Cleans easily and dishwasher safe BUT I would still hand wash this brush... my experience is they last much longer. Don't leave brush submerged PAST BRISTLES in hot liquids because this starts to weaken the seal connected to the brush handle. (the brown plastic ban)

from Valley Fellowship Church Posted on

Not only does this pastry brush makes buttering cinnamon rolls a cinch, it hardly looses bristles. I have tossed out countless brushes that lose bristles like my cat sheds hair. I use it all the time and have maybe picked up three bristles. 100% worth it and you can't beat the price.

from Simple Sweets Bakery Posted on

Nice product! I use this brush most often for applying egg or milk washes to pastry items, like pies and scones. The 2" sized brush is perfect for those applications. I have not had a problem with bristles coming out, as other have mentioned. Nice sturdy wooden handle. Cleans up nicely.

from Baked Bliss by Laura Posted on

Perfect size for applying wash to scones!

This brush is awesome. Bought a couple for home use and right out of the packaging, I gave the bristles a nice hard yank to see if there were any loose hairs. To my surprise everything stayed in place, and as an added bonus the bristles are incredibly soft.

    Posted on

I first bought one and was constantly using it so I bought another, now I have 1 for dry & 1 for oil when I need them they are there.

from Local Foods Bakery Posted on

Better than any brush I've ever gotten. The bristles don't come out when brushing on egg wash etc...I highly recommend this item for many uses.

    Posted on

This brush is an okay brush. I would recommend using it for less intimate pastry items. I personally use mine to brush off excess crumbs from when i'm decorating a cake or to eggwash my baked items.

    Posted on

This is the perfect sized pastry brush for our needs. It soaks up butter and sauces nicely and cleans up easily. Not too big and not too small. I recommend this product.

from Bakers Buzzin' LLC Posted on

The pastry brush bristles tend to fall off and get in the cake or pie which can be challenging. It works fine on certain products.

    Posted on

This is a handy little brush that we use to clean our coffee and espresso area. It works well to get into the different nooks and crannies of the equipment.

    Posted on

this brush is just the right size for brushing crumbs off the cakes before icing and it washes up nice too, I like the fact that it is natural and not synthetic..

    Posted on

What can I say these are the old stand by when it comes to a pastry brush. I use mine primarily for washes or oils. I will be buying this again in the future.

    Posted on

Worked great for 2-3 years. The handle and brush now separate but can easily be fixed so no big deal. Good utility brush, we use with butter/oils.

from DJK Establishments, LLC Posted on

This 2" boar bristle pastry brush is very well made. The bristles don't fall out and the wooden handle is very strong. Hand wash though due to it being wood. I use these for all my pastries in my bakery.

Love this pastry brush! So versatile and so many uses. Great for brushing on an egg wash, sauces, or sealing the edges of pastries. The bristles are firm, yet flexible, and the handle has a sturdy construction. Recommended product.

    from Caribbean Grill Posted on

This pastry brush has held up much better than the expensive pastry brushes that I have purchased at expensive kitchen stores. I will be ordering more of these on my next order. You won't beat this price anywhere.

    Posted on

This is a good quality brush. The bristles have not fallen out, like many lesser quality brushes do. And there is nothing to rust, so no worries there. Since the bristle stiffness is perfect, I can use this to brush excess flour from delicate pastries, or to egg wash breads. Would definitely buy again.

from The Beach House Posted on

A number of restaurant supply stores sell other brands of pastry brushes that are uneven and kind of rough looking, and we are talking brands with huge national recognition that are incredibly expensive. I saved 50 percent and received a higher quality brush that works like a dream and had that even appearance I was looking for. This is worth every penny.

from Le Cordon Bleu Minneapolis/St Paul MN Posted on

The 2" Boar Bristle Pastry Brush is a good buy. The brush is sturdy, and the bristles are firmly attached. I would highly recommend it.

Love this brush. It can get into the nooks and crannies of an intricate braided bread, tart shell, or lattice work on top of a pie without damaging the dough or leaving marks. Clean it gently and dry thoroughly, and it will last for a long time.
