Job Description

The Operations Manager oversees the entire Distribution operation.  He/She will have extensive knowledge of the various shipping/receiving procedures and protocols as well as possess a developmental mindset that ensures continual process improvement and increased warehouse efficiency and production.  The Operations Manager ensures all employees receive adequate training and development so that they will succeed in their respective roles. Additionally, he/she will review employees not currently meeting standards and expectations, and ensure that leadership has provided all necessary retraining and correction and that leadership has documented all such interactions with the employees.

The Operations Manager works in cooperation with the Director of Operations to set the appropriate staffing levels and shift assignments in order to achieve warehouse production standards as set by the President of The WebstaurantStore, Inc. The Operations Manager will be responsible for monitoring the daily, weekly, and monthly metrics for all shifts; He/She will ensure all consequences of failing to meet the expectations are enforced.  Consequentially, the Operations Manager will keep the warehouse recruiter and senior leadership team informed of all maintenance hiring needs and internal bid opportunities.  He/She will also ensure that orders are shipped in a timely manner and inside the company’s same day shipping and accuracy expectations.

Furthermore, the Operations Manager will lead weekly and monthly manager meetings to relay all information passed down from the Director of Operations.  These meetings will provide an overview of current metric standings, areas of improvement, personnel issues.  The Operations Manager will work closely with the Leadership team to identify and set quarterly goals for priority focus, meet regularly throughout the quarter to ensure that all managers are reviewing leading metrics for the goal they selected, and that the team successfully achieves the goal they set for that quarter.

The Operations Manager will be expected to work, at minimum, one full day per month with each department/shift.  As needed, he/she will fill the role of the Inbound/Outbound Operation manger due to illness, vacation, or other obligation not allowing them to be present at work.  In the absence of the Director of Operations, the Operations Manager will assume all duties and responsibilities assigned to the Director of Operations.


The job duties of the Operations Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly shipping metrics
  • Remain in daily communication with shipping/receiving departments
  • Maintain proper employment levels to ensure metrics will be met
  • Ensure all developmental employment interactions are documented and recorded
  • Delegate Quarterly initiatives and monitor progress
  • Conduct weekly and monthly manager meetings
  • Maintain regular and predictable on-site attendance
  • Tracking shipping supplies while meeting with vendors/with the Employee Relation Specialist.
  • Handle equipment issues
  • Develop continuous procedural improvements


  • Must be able push and pull up to 150lbs
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 to 75lbs
  • Must be able to constantly bend, squat, reach, climb, and stand throughout shift
