How to Season a Pan

For a carbon steel pan, start by washing, rinsing, and drying the pan. Heat the pan on your range on medium to high heat, then add shortening to the pan. Use a clean dry towel to spread the shortening around the interior of the pan, creating an even coat. Remove the pan from the heat, wipe out the excess shortening and let it cool. You can repeat this process up to 3 more times. For a cast iron skillet, preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking pan with aluminum foil and set aside. Wash, rinse, and dry your skillet. Place the skillet in the oven for 15 minutes. Remove and coat the entire skillet with shortening, inside and out. Place the skillet in the oven for 45 minutes with the baking pan on a rack below it to catch any mess. You can repeat this process up to three more times.

How do I “prepare” this pan for use?

For greater accuracy on the depth of this pan, the height is measured at an angle from the base to the outer lip. This accounts for the actual angles of the tapered sides.

    Great deep dish pizza pan. It's made of durable, quality metal that heats the pizza dough pretty evenly in the oven and makes the crust crispy. With this deep dish pan I even tried baking cake in it--worked like a charm!
    The eight inch tapered one and a half inch deep aluminum deep dish pans are no joke. Their strength continues to impress me. I have not used them for cakes but I found that they work very well for apple pies, breakfast quiches, deep dish pizzas and individual pot pies. I would recommend them to anyone.
    We love using these aluminum deep dish pizza pans for personal sized pizzas. The 19 gauge aluminum construction ensures even heating across the entire pan and makes cleanup very easy. This is a great pan for pizza parlors or pizza themed food trucks.
    This is great for bakes and casseroles but unless you make the dough perfectly and use enough oil to reduce sticking without drenching it I'd avoid making pizza.
    I've never bothered with making my own deep dish pizza, but I absolutely love using this for quiche! This allows me to make a quiche that last me for a few days.

    Standard deep dish pan. Works like it should. Would really like for it to be a non stick. I do have to line the pans with parchment paper so the food comes off easily.

    These pans works well. Evenly baked my brownie. Great price. The only thing is i bought these to make my cakes in and they dont work well if you are trying to achieve a straight edge. Overall good pan will buy again.
