Food Contamination Guide
Stop Food Contamination
Follow these 3 steps to ensure your customers are not exposed to any unnecessary bacteria or food contamination that could ultimately come back to you!
1
It's All in Your Hands
Inadequate hand washing and cross contamination can account for up to 40% of food borne illnesses.
Handwashing is your #1 defense against food borne illnesses.
Use an antibacterial or antimicrobial soap such as our PEARL Lotion Hand Soap ( 147PEARL 1G ). PEARL Lotion Hand Soap contains PCMX, which is an antimicrobial agent that provides for the hygenically sound cleaning of hands. It produces a dense, creamy lather and contains no free alkali or other irritant. It cleans and softens your hands at the same time.
2
Wash It All Away
All fresh fruit and vegetables (even certified organic) should be thoroughly washed with some type of special cleaning agent such as our VEGGIE WASH ( 102VEGWASH 1G ).
Water alone is not enough to remove the residual coatings, pesticides and contaminates found on the surface of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Our VEGGIE WASH removes contaminates as well as improves the appearance of fresh produce by helping to remove dull wax coatings.
Even though VEGGIE WASH does not kill bacteria, it helps to remove the contaminates that harbor bacteria found on the surface.
If you suspect any bacteria such as E Coli, immediately throw away any or all of the suspect fruits and vegetables.
3
Cleanliness is Next To...
Cooking surfaces, cutting surfaces, cutlery and utensils should always be kept clean and sanitized to prevent food borne illness and cross contamination.
Use sanitizers for all your food contact areas.
Add the sanitizer to a clean, sanitized sink filled with water and submerse items into the solution or spray it directly onto surfaces. Always rinse items afterwards.
Most sanitizers are able to kill Salmonella and E Coli as well as Hepatitis B Virus.
SPECIAL NOTE: If you suspect any food bacteria or contamination, do not use! BE SAFE, NOT SORRY!!
