Table Tops and Bases

Buying Guide

Pairing compatible table tops and bases can be a headache for any restaurant owner. However, at WebstaurantStore, we've taken the hassle out of trying to pair our Lancaster Table & Seating products. Our laminated, reversible table tops are available in a variety of standard sizes, and all have a compatible table base that can easily be found on our website. Whether it's paired with a round base, cross base, T-shape base or cantilever bracket, we've already figured it out for you!

Types of Bases

Round Bases

Round table bases are often chosen to match round table tops. A round table top attached to a round table base is generally more stable than a round table top attached to a square table base. Round table bases are also easier to vacuum and sweep around. However, they do not allow chairs to be pushed in fully, so if aisle or floor space is at a premium, a round table base may not be the best choice.

Cross Bases

Cross table bases are more difficult to clean around, but allow chairs to be pushed in further than with round table bases. Because of this, they are often preferred for rectangular or square table tops, but they can also be used for round table tops.

T-Shape Bases

T-shape table bases are used to adequately support long, rectangular table tops. The added weight and size requires two T-shape bases, but it makes for a great setup in a restaurant setting when space is available. These types of table setups can seat more people when hosting larger groups. T-Shape bases are easy to clean around and don't inhibit chairs being pushed in.

Lancaster Table & Seating Cantilever Metal Table Bracket

Cantilever Brackets

Cantilever brackets are mounted to a wall to hold rectangular table tops, and are commonly used with table booths. Cantilever brackets are great for eliminating bases that take up floor space, allowing for more foot room and making it easier to clean under the table top.

So which table base goes with which table top? See our sizing chart below for recommendations!

Please Note: These are minimum recommendations for our table tops and our bases. If your tabletops are unusually thick and/or heavy, we recommend choosing a base at least two sizes larger than the minimum, along with a 4" column. The WebstaurantStore does not recommend attaching any table top larger than 30" round or square to a bar height table base.
