How to Season a Panini Grill

How to Season a Panini Grill

Keeping your Panini grill seasoned is an important step in maintaining the cast iron plates. Once you have received your Panini grill, it’s important to take the proper steps in caring for it before your first use. In order to protect the plates of your new grill during transportation, a layer of food-safe oil was coated on the surface prior to shipment. This oil is harmless, but must be removed before you begin to use.To remove, preheat the grill to 350 degrees f or until the oil liquifies. Next, carefully wipe away the melted oil with a clean, soft cloth and clean the surfaces with hot water and a mild dish detergent. Once the oil is removed and you have cleaned the surface, you are ready to season. Seasoning is important for any cast iron item used in the kitchen. It will keep your Panini grill from rusting and ensure a nice stick resistant surface. To season, preheat the grill to 400 degrees F. Once the preheat light turns off, place a small amount of oil in center of the grill. Using a soft dry cloth, spread the oil around covering the top and bottom of the grill. Let heat for 15min or until all oil has been burnished. Your grill may need to be reseasoned periodically due to heavy cleaning. Just follow those simple steps to ensure your grill stays rust free and stick resistant. Thanks for watching, and if you have any questions, please click on our live chat button.

Customer questions about this product

How can I properly care for cast iron surfaces?
In order to prevent unwanted build-up of oils, grease, and food, surfaces should be cleaned after use while still slightly warm. Harsh chemicals or scouring pads should not be used—only hot water and a cloth or sponge are needed. If some areas require extra cleaning, a mild scouring pad can be used. Please refer to our Pan Seasoning Guide for further information on properly cleaning and seasoning cast iron surfaces.

Overall User Rating: Avantco P78 Grooved Commercial Panini Sandwich Grill - 120V, 1750W ( 4.7 stars from 25 reviews )

We started making panini sandwiches a few months ago with a small press from Target. Once the sandwiches took off, we knew we needed a commercial grade unit. This unit is awesome and priced right, too.

We have only used this a few times, but we are happy with is so far. we grilled french toast, bacon, and veggie burgers with this grill. The only negatives the "oil" that is applied from the factory - just wondered what it was??

This panini press has been used for the past 16 months and has been great. One thing I will note is that the press does really push the sandwich down as the lid is very heavy. We prop it using some pam spray and it works out much better but overall a great product at a very reasonable price.

The 13"x8 3/4" Grooved Top % Bottom Panini Sandwich Grill 120 V. Is great for our restraunt ,There is nothing like a warn panini sandwich. The best part is it is a 120 V. So we don't trip any breakers.

If you only have the option of 110 power this unit works well. I would not recommend the unit for high volume but for add on menu items in a small space you can't beat this press.

from Vending Trucks Inc. Posted on

We've had this panini press for five months now and had no problems (we had one for 2 months that was replaced under warranty when some screws broke causing the top portion to not stay up.) Our customers love the paninis we make.

from Pine Line Cafe Posted on

Cheaper than any other professional grill that I look at. It works pretty good, it makes great paninis and grilled sandwiches. I only wish took a little less time to get hot.

    from SC Posted on

Great unit and brand name. Easy to use and maintain as well as keeping clean. Non stick cooking surface helps keep it clean. Also keeps a good temperature.

This is a very good unit, it heats up for us relatively quickly. And holds temp really well. It presses the sandwiches and subs we make perfectly, and has lasted for over 8 months now and still looks brand new. Easy to clean, and maintain. Great press! Great price!

from The new haven cafe Posted on

Top's a little stiff, and it's a bit messy to clean, but it works fantastic. This one is more than big enough for 2 toaster sandwiches, and we have even fried bacon on it.

from Papa's Ice Cream, Inc. Posted on

This little gem has proven itself time and again. Very good value! This grill heats up quick and holds the temperature well. As with the Waring blenders we felt it a good investment to purchase another one of these after using one for several months.

Easy to use, grills the sandwiches nice and it is a nice size to grill 4 sandwiches at a time. Very happy with this product.

    from RJ's Cafe Posted on

Good equipment for the price. I have been using in my restaurant for 3 years. still working very good for all my pressed menu sandwiches.

from The Boardroom Restaurant Posted on

I've just purchased this item for a second location, and it's exactly the same model as the one I've been using here for over a year. It is extemely functional, and the price cannot be argued! We use 4 x 4 ciabatta bread and can fit 6 paninis on the grill, which is plenty for what we need!

from Custom Confections Inc. Posted on

We use this everyday. Well worth the price. I would reorder this product when the time comes. Quick and easy makes perfect panini's. Doesn't take up much space.

from Island Spice Cafe Posted on

This is a great panini press! I own two of them and love them. As with all presses, you must take care in cleaning often and do not use any sharp utensils. Heats up very quickly have wored great for over two years now.

    from Grilled Posted on

This is a great Panini Grill for the money. I'm always a bit hesitant when ordering on the lower end of the price scale, but this one is a hit. It's so easy to use for all the staff. Thanks

from Oak Hill Bulk Foods, Inc. Posted on

This grill has helped this little coffee shop stay busy all day. We are able to grill up to 3 sandwiches at a time and they are consistently great!
