Ateco Piping Bags, Short Spatulas and Pastry Tubes

Hi, this is Julie Bashore from the Sugar Arts Institute. Let’s have fun with some of the Ateco piping tips. Working with their disposable piping bags that come on a roll, they tear off really easily, I like to work with the smaller 12” bags but they also have 18”. Working with a coupler, remove the nut from the base of the coupler and place the base in the bag as tightly as you possibly can. Working with a pair of scissors, above the screw marks, just cut the edge of the bag and remove that. And then you’re going to choose the piping tube that you’d like to work with, place it on the top of the coupler, and screw it down firmly. This is a piping bag stand; it’s very convenient, especially if you’re piping alone or you don’t want to interrupt anyone to fill the bags, it holds the bags really well and you can slip your icing in there. This is the short-ended Ateco spatula which is quite wide so it’s really convenient for picking up the buttercream. Pull the bag up, place it on the table, and spread the buttercream down to the end. And then of course it’s important not to forget to burp the bag. This piping tip that I’m using is a ruffling pipe piping tip, and it’s absolutely amazing how quickly it works. Have a look, come in close. Doesn’t that give an awesome ruffle? Let’s work with another tip. This is the shell tip; don’t forget to burp your bag. This is great for a border; in fact, I sometimes use it on the edge of my ruffle. It gives a really nice shell design. The tip itself is curved so it gives a nice puffy shell appearance to it. Ateco has a new set that they’ve brought out: polycarbonate plastic piping tips, they are large tips, very strong and very precise in the edging. This one is a basket weave design; it really makes an awesome border. Place the bag over the holder, again, don’t forget to push the butter cream all the way to the edge and burp the bag. It has two edges, a flat edge and a scalloped edge so this makes a great ribbon design; you can also wiggle it or make just a ribbon and also wiggle this. Flip it over and wiggle. Great for basket weave.

    Use the pastry bags all the time. Love them for both icing cupcake and filling cupcake molds without any mess. They are really easy to grab out of the box.Just the right size for large amount of icing and you can just throw away when done. No cleanup, will order again!

    These bags are perfect for big jobs.. No need to refill the bag multiple times because it holds a large amount of frosting and the bags do not split open.

    We love the large size of these bags. Used frequently to pipe mousse into clear cups (very decorative!) and top fruit cobble with whipped cream.

    Don't waste your time trying to use the little bag if you are using this for commercial application. I always get the largest size because it makes handling the cream much easier! I rather spend a few cents more and save time and waste less food.

    These bags are great for everything, I use them for icing cakes or filling pastry. I also reuse once before tossing they are real sturdy. .and great price

    Decent price for these. We go through quite a few bags at the bakery. These work great for decorating cakes and cookies. We often wash and reuse them several times. Occasionally we'll get a small tear in them but they hold up fairly well.

    Very strong pastry bag and holds a lot of icing. I tend to squeeze pastry bags too hard and they usually burst which has not been an issue with this brand hence the 5 stars.

    I work at a bakery where I have to supply my own decorating bags. We go through a lot of bag with customer wanting unque colors. So I love these bags at this price. I can dispose of them often.

    These bags are wonderful and much better than the more expensive ones that you need to wash. The can withstand a thick icing without popping holes anywhere and when I'm done, I can simply throw it away without spending time washing it

    Pastry bags are expensive, especially if you are like me and learning how to decorate cakes. This roll of disposable pastry bag makes decorating cakes and piping out dough a breeze. It's not as thick as other brands but gets the job done nicely. I'm very pleased with the value that this roll gives you.

    These are absolutely the best disposable pastry bags at the best price. Not only do I use them for piping icings, I use them to store icing for future use...Simply place icing in the bag (don't cut the tip of the bag off yet) and secure at the top in the refrigerator. When you want to use, cut tip off of stored icing bag and place that bag inside another, larger disposable bag with decorating tip in place. It sounds complicated but it is actually an extremely easy way to make and store icing ahead of time.
