The Edlund U-12 (U12) is designed like a #1 manual can opener, but this opener is NSF certified. The U-12 (U12) comes apart easily for cleaning, due to an easy- change gear and a pull-pin for the blade replacement. The U-12 is nickel plated with a stainless steel shaft, knife and gear. Regular cleaning of this opener will prolong the life of the unit. The U-12 opens 4-6 cans per minute, but it is recommended that the U-12 be used to open no more than 50 cans daily. It is normal for metal-to- metal friction to eventually cause knives and gears to wear, so inspect and change knives and gears regularly. Replacement knife under item #333K032SP and gear under item #333G030SP are also available.
